Witness one of the most dramatic chapters of the Great Migration on a five-day private journey through Tanzania’s northern wilderness.
Begin among the elephants and ancient baobabs of Tarangire National Park before travelling into Central Serengeti and continuing north towards the Mara River, where migrating wildebeest and zebra gather during the northern phase of their annual journey.
Time in Northern Serengeti gives you the opportunity to search for the great herds and, when nature allows, witness their remarkable river crossings. The journey then turns south through the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro highlands, ending with a game drive across the wildlife-rich floor of Ngorongoro Crater.

DAY ONE · TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Among Elephants & Baobabs
Your safari begins with collection from your hotel in Arusha, followed by an approximately two-and-a-half-hour journey south to Tarangire National Park.
Spend your first day exploring a landscape shaped by the Tarangire River, immense baobab trees and open savannah. The park is particularly renowned for its elephant populations, while giraffes, lions, buffalo, zebras and wildebeest are among the many animals that may be encountered.
After your game drive, leave the park and continue to your lodge for dinner and a relaxed first evening on safari.

DAY TWO · CENTRAL SERENGETI
Into the Endless Plains
After breakfast, set out towards the legendary Serengeti National Park.
As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into immense grasslands and woodland supporting wildlife throughout the year. Spend the day searching for lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and other plains game as you travel deeper into the ecosystem.
Later, arrive at Central Serengeti Luxury Camp for dinner and your first night inside the Serengeti.Â

DAY THREE · NORTHERN SERENGETI
In Search of the Mara River Crossings
After breakfast, leave Central Serengeti and journey north towards the Mara River, entering the landscapes associated with one of the Great Migration’s most dramatic stages.
Spend the day game driving around Northern Serengeti while your guide follows current wildlife movements. During the migration season, immense herds of wildebeest and zebra gather in this region as they move between Tanzania and Kenya.
The hope is to witness animals gathering along the riverbanks and, if timing and nature align, experience the spectacle of a river crossing. Because these are completely natural events, crossings can never be guaranteed, which makes witnessing one all the more extraordinary.
Continue game viewing into the evening before settling into your camp in Northern Serengeti.Â

DAY FOUR · SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO
From the Northern Plains to the Highlands
Wake early for another game drive in the Serengeti, giving you a final opportunity to search for the migration herds alongside the region’s resident wildlife.
After brunch, begin the long journey south towards Ngorongoro. Wildlife viewing continues en route as you travel through the Serengeti before the plains gradually give way to the cooler landscapes of the Ngorongoro highlands.
Arrive later in the evening at your tented camp near the crater, where dinner and a well-earned night’s rest await.

DAY FIVE · NGORONGORO CRATER
Into Africa’s Natural Amphitheatre
Your final safari day takes you into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, an immense volcanic caldera surrounded by walls rising approximately 600 metres above its floor.
Descend into the crater for game viewing across grasslands, wetlands and other habitats supporting an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Look for lions, buffalo, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas and the endangered black rhino.
Later in the afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin your journey back to Arusha or continue directly to the airport, bringing your five-day migration safari to an end.
