Two Days in the Heart of Northern Tanzania
Short on time doesn’t have to mean short on experience. This two-day shared safari combines the elephant-rich landscapes of Tarangire National Park with the extraordinary wildlife of the Ngorongoro Crater, creating a compact introduction to Tanzania’s northern circuit.
Travel from Arusha with a small group of fellow safari guests, spending your first day among Tarangire’s savannah and celebrated elephant populations before overnighting at Ngare Lodge. The following morning, descend into Ngorongoro Crater for an extended game drive before returning to Arusha.

DAY ONE · TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Into Elephant Country
Your safari begins after an early breakfast, with collection from your Arusha hotel at approximately 7:30 am. Settle into your 4×4 and travel towards Tarangire National Park, a drive of roughly two to two-and-a-half hours.
Spend the remainder of the day exploring Tarangire’s beautiful mixture of savannah and thorn bush. The park is particularly celebrated for its elephants, while lions, wildebeest, zebras, impalas, baboons, warthogs and other wildlife may also be encountered along the way.
After your game drive, leave the park and continue to Ngare Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY TWO · NGORONGORO CRATER
Into the Crater
After breakfast at Ngare Lodge, continue towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.
Spend approximately six to seven hours exploring the crater floor, including time for lunch. Its grasslands and other habitats support an exceptional variety of wildlife, with opportunities to encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras and the endangered black rhino. Giraffes are generally absent from the crater floor because of its steep walls, although they may be seen in the surrounding conservation area.
Later in the afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin the drive back to Arusha, bringing your short northern Tanzania safari to an end.Â
