Rather than remaining in one part of the Serengeti, the migration moves through several distinct regions during the year. We plan each journey around where the herds are most likely to be, while allowing enough flexibility for nature to set the pace.

JANUARY – MARCH

Calving on the Southern Plains

The herds gather across Ndutu and the southern Serengeti, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeest calves are born. Vast open plains, newborn animals and intense predator activity make this one of the most rewarding periods of the migration.

APRIL – JUNE

The Journey North

As the rains shift, the herds begin travelling through the central and western Serengeti. Long columns of wildebeest stretch across the plains as they move toward fresh grazing grounds, with the western corridor becoming increasingly active.

JULY – OCTOBER

The Northern Serengeti

The migration reaches the far north, gathering around Kogatende and the Mara River. Herds may attempt dramatic river crossings as they move between grazing areas on either side of the river.

NOVEMBER – DECEMBER

The Return South

With the arrival of the short rains, the herds gradually turn south again, travelling through the eastern and central Serengeti toward the fertile plains where another calving season will begin.
